Dr. Julia Jenkins (she/her), DVM

Dr. Julia Jenkins was born and raised in Philadelphia, where one of her earliest childhood memories involved creating a vet clinic in her bedroom for her stuffed animals. She received her bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and her veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. She stayed on at Penn to complete a year-long rotating internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery.

Following her training, Julia practiced at a large feline-only hospital in Philadelphia where she ultimately became Medical Director. A family relocation brought her back to the Boston area in 2001, where she has been caring for both cats and dogs ever since, while also writing for a few online veterinary platforms and raising three boys, two cats and a border collie.

Julia's professional interests include feline medicine, internal medicine, behavioral issues, veterinary communications, geriatric pets and end-of-life care. She loves that being a vet allows her to not just help pets, but to help their people too.

In her free time she enjoys hanging out with her husband and three sons, spending time outdoors, and traveling the USA. She is also an avid knitter, loves workout videos, and is obsessed with indoor rock climbing.

Special Interests: Feline medicine, internal medicine, behavioral issues, veterinary communications, geriatric pets and end-of-life care.
