Dr. Marie Chan (she/her), DVMDr. Marie Chan was born in Hong Kong, and raised in the suburbs of Toronto, Canada. Ever since she was little, Marie has loved animals — and she grew up with a variety of fish and pocket pets. Marie earned her bachelor's degree in biology (Hons) from the University of Waterloo, and worked as a veterinary assistant at a cat hospital, where she learned fear-free feline handling techniques and developed a strong interest in feline medicine. Upon the completion of her veterinary degree, Marie jumped straight into a small animal private practice in Sydney for two years, where she treated cats, dogs, pocket pets and injured wildlife brought in by the public.
Relocating to Chicago in 2021, she continued working at a bustling small animal hospital, fostering an interest in dermatology, surgery, and preventative care. Marie particularly enjoys building connections with clients and helping elderly pets maintain a good quality of life as they age.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Marie finds joy in traveling around the world to experience different cultures, and physical adventures by way of hiking through national parks and snowboarding. Even while she's away, Marie never forgets to Facetime her family cat, Sushi, who is an adorable but slightly overweight orange tabby.
